The all-conquering Rihanna has added yet another accolade to her bulging lists of achievements – making UK chart history yesterday as the first female solo artist to score number one singles in five consecutive years.
The 22-year-old songstress reached the milestone after
her latest release, What's My Name, climbed to the top spot in
yesterday's top 40. Scoring a double whammy, her album, Loud, is also
number one in the UK album charts.
No artists has achieved the same
feat since Elvis Presley, who scored number ones every year between 1957
and 1963.
Taking to her Twitter account last night, the thrilled singer to the chance to thank her fans, writing: 'Another week! LOUD and What's my Name are the #1 ALBUM and SINGLE respectively!!! UK you are on FYAH!!!Rah Rah! THANK U!'
Rihanna started her reign at the top back in 2007, when Umbrella became her first UK number one. Take a Bow followed in 2008, Run this Town in 2009 and Only Girl (In the World) last year.
